How can I purchase tickets to shows?
All tickets for NSC are sold via the Corner Box Office

You can buy tickets -

• Online via the NSC gig guide page  (VISA, Bankcard & MasterCard)
• Over the phone with your credit card (03) 9486 1677; or
• In person from the Corner Box Office, 57 Swan St Richmond, Monday – Saturday 11am- 8pm (cash and card sales).

You can choose to either collect your tickets from Corner Box Office (57 Swan St, Richmond) prior to the day of the show,  have them sent via post (regular or registered), or you can collect them from the door at NSC on the night of the show.
Please note: if the transaction is within 10 days of the show, tickets cannot be posted and will be held at the door for collection.

Why can’t a person under the age of 18 attend shows?
It is a legal requirement of our liquor license that all our patrons be over the age of 18.

Are shows at the Northcote Social Club seated or standing?
All NSC performances are general admission & standing room only unless otherwise stated.

“I lost my ticket”
Once you have collected your tickets, they are solely your responsibility. While we obviously sympathise with the plight of those who lose their tickets or have them stolen, we are unable to reissue them. This is regardless of method of purchase. Even if we have a record of your purchase, we cannot be certain that other less scrupulous members of the public will not use the tickets.
Please treat your tickets like cash, as they are not replaceable.

Do you have wheelchair access?
There is wheelchair access from High St which requires negotiating a small step (15cm). Please ask our staff for assistance if required.

What do you do with the information that you request from me when purchasing tickets?
The information requested is only used for processing your tickets. In the event of a postponed or cancelled show, the Corner Box Office will endeavour to make contact with you. As per the Privacy Act, the information you provide is not supplied to any party outside the NSC or the Corner Hotel.

What are the bookings fees for ticketing?
Booking fees to the public are $3 per ticket.

Is there a smoking area?
The lower area of the deck has an open air section where smoking is permitted.

Can I bring recording devices like audio, tape, camera or film into the NSC?
No, you cannot record an artist’s performance. You would require permission from the artist and the venue as per the Copyright Act, as the performance is “owned” by the artist. The authority to allow or not allow such recording devices on the night rests with the artists performing and not the venue.

The trip takes about 20mins and you should get off at stop #32, one stop after the Northcote Town Hall.

The Northcote Social Club is situated on the corner of High St and Hawthorn Rd in Northcote.

  • Playing their first headline spot for 2010, that horrible bunch of Russian criminals, VulgarGrad, finally return to Melbourne stages at NSC. They will have just returned from WOMADelaide and Port Fairy Folk Festival, leaving audiences there with their ears ringing with Russian swear words and their wallets mysteriously missing. In a long overdue doublebill, the magnificent Woohoo Revue will also be playing on the night, featuring top hats, tutus, trumpets, and blisteringly fast gypsy tunes.   • From the Mississippi Delta comes homegrown blues with vocalist, harpist, saxophonist and washboard player Stan Street and his wife Dixie Street on drums. The Bluesman has played the US circuit for much of his 60 yrs and regularly tours Europe. Stan has developed his own sound in the delta blues style, playing at the Juke Joint Festivals, Ground Zero (Morgan Freemans local venue), Reds Lounge, the Hambone Festival (centered around Stans own art gallery) and at the many traditional juke joints in Clarksdale. Jaimi Faulkner, (who won the right to represent the Melb Blues Society at the International Blues Competition, Memphis 08) and Stan met in Clarksdale during the blues rinse tour of 08 where they played the Ground Zero stage together; they are now delighted to have the opportunity of working a whole show together. Jaimi is known and much loved by Melbourne audiences for his strong vocals, gorgeous, impressive guitar work and original compositions and, sadly, will be relocating to Germany soon after these gigs, so this is an opportunity to see him collaborate with an original delta bluesman.

  • Forget everything you’ve ever thought you knew about Celtic rock bands, because Melbourne-based outfit, Claymore, defies all expectations. This enigmatic band of multi-instrumentalists not only manages to combine traditional elements of Celtic music, but they take that passion and soul and rock it right into the 21st century. Few bands can pull off the sensitive task of re-educating the traditional realm into the modern day, but thats something of a specialty for Claymore. Not only that, but they manage to write beautiful original Celtic compositions, and even lend their style to some power rock classics, all with an Irish and Scottish twist. Since the bands inception more than two decades ago, theyve released five impressive albums, and performed internationally from gigs in New York, Scotland and New Zealand, to several headline appearances at the reputed Festival Interceltique De Lorient France.   • It’s on again! Quickly becoming something of an annual event, the Snarski brothers take to the stage at the NSC this March. Testing their musical memory banks, they will delve into the extensive catalogue of Chad’s Tree, The Jackson Code and The Blackeyed Susans. In 1983, in the outskirts of Perth, brothers Mark and Rob Snarski formed Chad’s Tree. After several alternative-chart-topping singles and albums, the Snarski brothers went their separate ways. Mark formed The Jackson Code and younger brother Rob The Blackeyed Susans along with members of The Triffids. Over the past year, Mark has managed to record his new project The Nearly Brothers with Mick Harvey producuing, Martyn Casey (The Bad Seeds), TB Allen (The Invisible Men) and Bongo Fury (The Jackson Code). Rob has been touring constantly since the release of The Blackeyed Susans 20 year retrospective Reveal Yourself 1989-2009 last year, as well as working on the follow up to his joint effort with Dan Luscombe (The Drones) . The Snarskis have also justput the finishing touches on the long awaited Chads Tree compilation Crossing Off The Miles, a 2CD retrospective which is due out in March. And so it is a small miracle that Snarski vs Snarski are able to find the time for two shows before they head to Europe to join The Triffids in their ‘A Secret in the Shape of a Song’ performances.

Using bizarre and unconventional instrumentation such as the self-built ‘banjo-bass’ (a kick drum with a tree-stump hewn neck attached to it and two wire strings), the ‘velofoon’ (a delicate sounding Arabic based string invention) and the bandoneon, these guys create a universe where there is as much room for the wide open spaces as there is for Kurt Weil or Tom Waits.

Jandek often plays a highly idiosyncratic and frequently atonal form of folk and blues that borders on the avant-garde. Refusing to use any form of traditionalism with structure, chords and tuning, Jandek has created a stylized form of music that is entirely his own. Lyrically he mirrors the country blues and folk traditions of East Texas, but sonically, hes in a league of his own.

Zee Avi was born on the island of Borneo, later moving to KL, as she began to write and perform, she posted her songs on YouTube for a friend to hear. The viral buzz around her postings eventually resulted in the release of her 2009 self-titled debut album.

With a plethora of new material up his belt, Thompson reveals this will be a “much more personal album with real events and real experiences, whereas ‘Stargazer’ mostly developed from open jams and experimentation”. Whilst still maintaining his trademark blues/rock/soul sound, accompanied by flute, percussion and most recently, his Brazilian bassist who has played an integral role in the creation of this stage in his music.
