soccer, special sporting events?
All free to air games will be shown on the big screen in the front bar and on the deck.

How can I purchase tickets to shows?
All tickets for NSC are sold via the Corner Box Office

You can buy tickets -

Online via the NSC gig guide page (VISA, Bankcard & MasterCard)

Over the phone with your credit card 1300 724 867; or

In person from the Corner Box Office, 57 Swan St Richmond, Monday – Saturday 11am- 8pm (cash and card sales).

You can choose to either collect your tickets from Corner Box Office (57 Swan St, Richmond) prior to the day of the show, have them sent via post (regular or registered), or you can collect them from the door at NSC on the night of the show.
Please note: if the transaction is within 10 days of the show, tickets cannot be posted and will be held at the door for collection.

Why can’t a person under the age of 18 attend shows?
It is venue policy that all patrons in the bandroom be over the age of 18.

Are shows at the Northcote Social Club seated or standing?
All NSC performances are general admission & standing room only unless otherwise stated.

“I lost my ticket”
Once you have collected your tickets, they are solely your responsibility. While we obviously sympathise with the plight of those who lose their tickets or have them stolen, we are unable to reissue them. This is regardless of method of purchase. Even if we have a record of your purchase, we cannot be certain that other less scrupulous members of the public will not use the tickets.
Please treat your tickets like cash, as they are not replaceable.

Do you have wheelchair access?
There is wheelchair access from High St which requires negotiating a small step (15cm). Please ask our staff for assistance if required.

What are the bookings fees for ticketing?
Booking fees are charged to cover bank fees and admin costs. Booking fee’s are NOT refundable.

Is there a smoking area?
The lower area of the deck has an open air section where smoking is permitted.

Can I bring recording devices like audio, tape, camera or film into the NSC?
No, you cannot record an artist’s performance. You would require permission from the artist and the venue as per the Copyright Act, as the performance is “owned” by the artist. The authority to allow or not allow such recording devices on the night rests with the artists performing and not the venue.

Heralding a new voice in street poetry, Ghostpoet announces his debut Australian tour, bringing his live band and performing songs from his Mercury Prize nominated Peanut Butter Blues & Melancholy Jam album. An intoxicating and heady mix of indie guitars, crashing drums, club beats and spooky synths, Ghostpoets music is not easily defined, which is perhaps why he has won so many fans so quickly. BBC Radio 1 said rarely does a British debut album forge such a fully formed, genuinely unique direction that attempts to slot it into established scenes prove almost entirely fruitless. Ghostpoet performed Us Against Whatever for Mahogany Sessions.

Headlining Doomsday 2011 will be the international and first-time Australian tourists – COUGH. This heavyweight quartet formed in 2005 with the intent of becoming the heaviest band ever to hail from their home city and is, without a doubt, well on their way. Taking inspiration from the lumbering doom of Black Sabbath, Cathedral, Pentagram, Electric Wizard and Sleep, along with the filthy sludge of the likes of Eyehategod, they impress with their ability to embody everything from all out aggression to hypnotic psychedelia and earth moving stoner grooves.

Daniel Champagne reaches to musical depths far beyond his years and has a way with the guitar that can only be seen to be believed. Champagne often sounds closer to a three-piece band than a 21-year-old singer songwriter guitarist. Called the future of folk (San Franciscos The Firefly Column) and probably the best young guitarist in Australia (IFC President), Daniels signature explosion of two-hand tapping, body percussion and fiery runs in a swag of different tunings can be expected, as can jazzy finger picking and tasteful improvisation. Hes performed at Bluesfest, Woodford, and Queenscliff festivals and toured internationally, and will now play this run of residency shows. Watch him performing live in the USA this year.

Geoffrey OConnor, frontman for Australian euphoric pop sprites Crayon Fields, is stepping out from behind his previous solo moniker Sly Hats to stand exposed to the world as a solo artist under his own name. Since dropping the moniker, Geoffrey has played solo shows with the likes of School Of Seven Bells and First Aid Kit. His first album as Geoffrey OConnor, entitled Vanity Is Forever, is both more elaborate and more personal than anything he has done previously. Another stylistic shift, the album moves between seductive high-production dance hits, suave funk joyrides and modern synthetic power balladry. The Melbourne band has been on a steady ascent, roaming the country with their brutally fierce live set, supporting the legendary Stone Temple Pilots, Papa vs Pretty and Calling All Cars. As their first track to radio Giants circulated across triple j and Rage, Redcoats ended 2010 with a gig at Pyramid Rock Festival and Violent Soho on New Years Eve. Recorded by Rob Long (Shihad, Magic Dirt) and Lindsay Gravina (The Living End, Even), their debut EP was released in late July, and their live show has been called passionate and engaging (The AU Review) and their music style completely mesmerizing, entrancing, and played with a level of skill to match (Faster Louder). <ahref="http://youtu.be/g_WmqRBc2I0" target="_blank" style="text-decoration: underline; color:green;">Watch the clip for Dreamshaker from their recent EP release.

One of Australias most underrated bands, The Fauves play their own brand of guitar pop featuring wry, humorous lyrics, much in the style of fellow Australian band TISM, but infinitely more subtle. Forming in 1988, the four-piece took their name from the short-lived art movement of the early 1900s, with fauve being the French word for wild animal. Releasing their debut EP in 1989, and following two years later with the Scissors Within EP and The Tight White Ballhugger EP in 92, The Fauves quickly gained critical acclaim and a cult following. Further full length releases and extensive touring led to the band beginning to experience the commercial recognition they deserved. Watch the video for Dogs Are The Best People.

AAA Backstage noted of the same performance; Aussie hip-hops brightest hope? Quite possibly so. As their new album Foreverlution, featuring lead single Paint The Town Red, was hitting the shelves six weeks ago, Thundamentals were supporting Big Boi and then went on to support Drapht, so it is only now that the band announces this Foreverlutuion album launch tour.
Sydney band New Navy recently released their highly anticipated debut EP Uluwatu, named after the location where the EP was conceived. Recorded by Lost Valentinos man Jono Ma (Foals, Sherlocks Daughter), Uluwatu is a clear progression and is a more melodic, percussive approach than previous demos. Frontman Ben McInerny balances sparkly guitars with smooth, strong vocals, and from the whistle while you work opening of Zimbabwe to the summer grooves of Tapioca and the dramatic crescendo of Oceans, the new EP comes together as a whole. Uluwatu is a destination away from the drag of normal life. The excitement of a getaway, long burning sunsets, beach parties, fleeting romances and the final feeling of departure is captured within Uluwatu.

with special guest and Weened

With four studio albums under their belt, Brisbane band The Gin Club is touring in support of their new live album and will play this xmas show! Recorded in venues all over the country over several years, including a Northcote Social Club show earlier this year, it promises to be another eclectic blues rock masterpiece. The Gin Club have played Big Day Out and Splendour in the Grass, and are critically acclaimed, with The Vines Everett True saying The Gin Club make the sort of music every bar band and Bad Seeds fanatic across the length of Australia aspires to make. Watch this great live footage of the band performing You, Me and the Sea in Sydney in 2008.

Blues-punk primitive Bob Log III first surfaced a member of the art-noise group Mondo Guano, later serving as one half of the duo Doo Rag. While appearing in support of Ween, Doo Rag percussionist Thermos Malling abruptly quit the tour, leaving Log to finish out the remaining dates as a solo act; wearing his now-trademark motorcycle helmet onstage for protection from crowds, he proceeded to hone a cacophonous, Delta blues-inspired noise distinguished by Latin-styled drum machine beats and vocals processed through telephone microphones. In the summer of 1998, Log signed to Fat Possum to issue his solo debut, School Bus; Trike, the second release in his ongoing Vehicle Series followed a year later. Dont miss your chance to experience his unique live show.
